Repeat medication

We provide an efficient service of repeat prescriptions for our patients. Requests which are received before 10:30am will usually be dealt with within 2 working days, unless the clinician needs to contact the patient for various reasons.

Requests for repeat prescriptions WILL NOT be accepted over the telephone, unless there is a prior agreement with the patient. This is to protect patient confidentiality and the possibility of error.

Pharmacies can no longer send prescription requests on behalf of patients to the practice. Patients or an authorised representative need to request them via the methods listed below. Authorised representatives can be a member of your family, a friend or pharmacist of your choice.

We strongly recommend that you use the NHS App to request your repeat medication. Once your NHS App is set up, you will be able to directly communication your request to the practice for processing. Please get in touch with us to link your NHS App to the practice.

Prescription requests that are sent via the NHS App / online directly go to your GP. There are less chances of delays and contacting you will be easier.

Medication reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to consult with the doctor, practice nurse or registered on site pharmacist at least once a year, or earlier if required, to review these medications. A reminder will be present on the right hand side of your prescription slip.

It is important that you book and attend these appointments whether in person or over the telephone to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please remember

  • We are closed on public bank holidays – you should arrangements to get your prescriptions in advance. Please don’t leave things until last minute as this will create unnecessary stress for both yourself and the surgery.
  • One-off medication can be prescribed by the doctor. These medications are not usually repeated, so do not ask for these via repeat prescription services. To request these, you will need to speak to a pharmacist or doctor who will be able to assess your situation accordingly. This can easily be achieved through the submission of a PATCHS request.
  • To save yourself time, please nominate a chemist so that prescriptions can directly be sent to them. However, the option remains available to come into the surgery to collect prescriptions if you prefer.
